A Study on the Structural Protein of the Vitreous Body (vitrosin)
نویسنده
چکیده
A method is described for the isolation of a structural protein of the vitreous body, which has been named vitrosin. The analyses show that vitrosin is a viscous, thixotropic, fibrous protein. Electron micrographs reveal that vitrosin particles are long fibrils, averaging 250 A in width. The isoelectric point was found to be around pH 5.5 and the shrinkage temperature 60 degrees C. Vitrosin is composed of a protein-carbohydrate complex. It contains cystine and the aromatic amino acids in low quantities. Hexosamine could not be detected in the complex.

Vitreous body collagen. Evidence for a dual origin from the neural retina and hyalocytes
Two different cells types have been shown to synthesize embryonic chick vitreous collagen (vitrosin) at different stages of development. Identification of vitrosin was established by labeling the embryos in ovo [3H]proline at stages 23 and 28 and separating the extracted vitreous collagen alpha-chains by carboxymethylcellulose chromatography. The labeled collagen consisted predominately of alph...
متن کاملVitrosin: a Member of the Collagen Class
Vitrosin, a fibrous protein obtained from the vitreous humor of the eye in the form of an indefinitely long fibril about 100 to 150 A in diameter, has been identified as a member of the collagen class of proteins. It is characterized by the collagen wide-angle x-ray diffraction pattern, and axial periodicity of about 640 A determined by electron microscopy and small-angle x-ray diffraction, an ...

Partially liquefied vitreous humor is a common physical and biochemical degenerative change in vitreous body which the liquid component gets separated from collagen fiber network and leads to form a region of liquefaction. The main objective of this research is to investigate how the oscillatory motions influence flow dynamics of partial vitreous liquefaction (PVL). So far computational fluid d...
متن کاملCo-amoxiclav Effects on the Structural and Binding Properties of Human Serum Albumin
Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant plasma protein in the human body. HSA plays an important role in drug transport and metabolism. This protein has a high affinity to a very wide range of materials, including metals such as Cu2+ and Zn2+, fatty acids, amino acids and metabolites such as bilirubin and many drug compounds. In this study, we investigated the effects of co-amoxiclav, as...
